Well losing fat and putting on muscle aren't always the same. You might need spot fat reduction. Even if you work the outside of your chest, you will still have fat covering it. |

You need to have a total workout and reduction in calories... |

While you can't spot reduce fat there are tips on how to build up the outside of the pec muscle. |

Well really the spot reduction would be liposuction. Years ago I remember a woman who did an incredible job of losing weight. Always in the gym. She lost everywhere except for underneath her arms on the back-The flabby back arm. In the end she had no choice but to get liposuction on her arms. Shame as she worked really hard. Then there's that fat freeze thing. not sure how effective it is. It is cheaper though. |

Unfortunately your only real option is surgery, or maybe some powerful drugs that can help get rid of fat there. I have the same issue, I think it's called (female dog) breasts. I can lose a lot of weight but there's still fat pocket on my lower pecs as well on the sides. Sad but at my age no point in getting surgery to impress the ladies. |

You can exercise the bejeezus out of an area but it WILL NOT reduce fat in that area. Muscle and fat are two completely different tissues, and they are formed and destroyed by different metabolic processes. I don't know why we're still having to repeat this at this point in history. |

You're 100% correct. This is most evident with abs. Skinny cross country runners have visible abs, the linebacker on the football team may have less definition in that same area despite being more muscular all around. However...one can increase the surface area of muscle that the same amount of fat is spread out over. This is more true with arms, or chest, or major leg muscle groups. I have an a family member that decided to get lipo for a double chin. Super in shape, just genetics (every single sibling in the family had it.) |
